Obituary for
Calvin H. Zimmer
Calvin Hale Zimmer, 89, a Palm Beach County resident who retired in 1975 after 22 years with the Metropolitan, D.C. Police Department and who retired in 2002 after 26 years with Prince George's, MD Community College, passed away at Savannah Cove in West Palm Beach, FL.
Retired with the rank of Captain at the Youth Division and the 6th District, he also served as foot patrolman and street corporal, motorcycle sergeant, and Training Academy lieutenant. Following his police career, he rose to the level of Associate Professor at the College where he taught criminal justice courses.
Mr. Zimmer, who was born in Hilbert, WI, moved to the Washington area in 1935, served two years as an Aviation Machinist in the U.S. Navy, and graduated from the University of Maryland. He received a Master's Degree at John Jay College in New York City while employed as a police officer.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Stabile; four children, Calvin Hale, Jr., Rudolph Karl, Donna Marie, and Clinton Hale; step-daughter, Marissa Moore-Frye; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 2, 2017. A Funeral Service will begin at 5:00 P.M. Mr. Zimmer will be laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery on Monday.
